What are concrete slabs?

Concrete slabs are a typical building element that is used as a structural component. It is a large, flat, horizontal concrete surface typically used for a floor or a roof. Concrete slabs are used to construct the foundation of houses, either on the soil or to support the foundation.

Our Concrete Slab Installation Process

Concrete slab installation is difficult when you don't have the required knowledge and expertise. Port St. Lucie Concrete Contractors adheres to the strict concrete slab installation process.

Safety is a first priority for us in all of the concrete work we undertake. Before any project is started, we make sure to be equipped with the proper safety equipment. We wear eye protection, long sleeves, long trousers, rubber boots and gloves. All of these safeguard us from concrete splashes that could affect our overall health and well-being.

As with the process, we strictly follow below steps:

Step 1: Preparation on site

The same method is used regardless of whether working on a small slab or large project. Every project we work on starts by preparing the site. We remove all trace of contamination to allow us to start fresh. We make sure that all materials are available on-site as part of the preparation. We plan the delivery of materials prior to actual construction. This allows us to begin and finish the project in time.

Step 2: Form Concrete Forms using Steel, and Reinforce Concrete Slabs with Steel

Once everything is neat and tidy We can begin installing concrete forms using wire mesh. Concrete forms are sturdy barriers that help hold concrete mix in the right place. Concrete forms force concrete to conform to a specific shape or form. As for larger structures, we use Rebar to strengthen concrete. This helps concrete surfaces become stronger.

Step 3: Mixing Concrete Mix

To make it easier, we use the concrete truck. It helps ensure the concrete materials are properly mixed. Sometimes, we do manual mixing. However, in the majority of our projects, a concrete mixer is a must.

Step 4: Pouring Concrete

Once we've mixed the concrete, we immediately pour the concrete slab into our forms. It is crucial to be careful when pouring this concrete so that there are not excessive air pockets while pouring concrete. Air pockets can be caused by not enough mortar being filled with aggregate. When making concrete, we make sure that we distribute the mix throughout the shape. We never fail to fill a space.
